Community Devotion Program at Batujajar Traditional Market
Traditional markets, which have become representative places in developing a people’s economy, are being threatened, especially with the presence of modern markets. This is inseparable from problems such as seedy and dirty market atmosphere, limited market space, limited market hours, less packaging method, human resource capabilities, etc. The ability of HR (traders) in traditional markets to run and manage businesses has not yet applied management theory, one of which is financial management for market traders. Most traditional traders are unable to monitor the finances and inventory of their merchandise. This has led to the high opportunities held by modern markets that have referred to the principles of modern management to continuously develop. This has been proven in the last few years by continuing to decrease the number of traditional markets in Indonesia.
This is the reason for Telkom University to work together with ASPARINDO (Indonesian Market Management Association) to re-organize Community Devotion activities in traditional markets, namely Batujajar Market in order to foster and provide training for local market traders. The Public Devotion Program was held on May 1, 2019. The event was intended to provide training in improving financial management competencies for Batujajar Market managers and traders. Overall, both traders and market managers accepted the event very well and enthusiastically, and felt the great benefits of this event. Traders were seen asking various questions and giving positive responses during the training. The following ABDIMAS video, click here.
Community Devotion Activities aimed at improving financial management competencies have been held regularly every year. In 2016, this event was held at Batu Catur Batujajar Market, in 2017 the training was held at the Banjaran Traditional Market, Ciparay Traditional Market and Cililin Traditional Market, in 2018 it was held at the Panorama Lembang Market, and this year it was held again at Batujajar Market. This event is also targeted to continue to be carried out by targeting other traditional markets in Bandung, as a form of dedication from Telkom University to provide community devotion.
