“Innovation, Information and the Networked Economy” – General Lecture by Dr Harminder Battu
On November 7th, 2024, Dr. Harminder Battu, the Dean for International Partnership Development University of Aberdeen, delivered an insightful lecture titled “Innovation, Information, and the Networked Economy.” The event was held from 13:30 to 15:00 at the Hall of Marore Building, and was attended by over 100 students from Master of Management and Master of Management (Distance Learning) Telkom University, both onsite and via Zoom online meeting.

Dr. Battu began the lecture by providing an overview of the University of Aberdeen—its history, programs, and the challenges the university faces in today’s world. This helped students better understand how the university approaches education and its role in shaping the future of students and society.

Dr. Battu then moved on to discuss the importance of innovation in today’s economy. While innovation can drive growth and success, he also pointed out that it can sometimes be the source failures due to external factors, economic scale, and other challenges.
He explained that to succeed, we need to build a strong plan to address these potential risks and find solutions to overcome obstacles. This framework would help us make the most of innovation while avoiding its possible pitfalls.
